Forum in Geneva organised by ITU

World Summit on the Information Society

The World VR Forum is proudly supporting partner of WSIS Forum (World Summit on the Information Society) in Geneva organized by ITU.
The WSIS Forum 2016 represents the world’s largest annual gathering of the ‘ICT for development’ community. The WSIS Forum, co-organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP and UNCTAD, has proven to be an efficient mechanism for coordination of multistakeholder implementation activities, information exchange, creation of knowledge, sharing of best practices and continues to provide assistance in developing multistakeholder and public/private partnerships to advance development goals.
The WSIS Forum 2016 will be held from 2-6 of May expecting over 1600 stakeholders from beyond 140 countries, including more than 100 ministers, ambassadors, heads of agencies, CEOs and high level representatives from the private sector, civil society and academia. The WSIS Forum 2016 will serve as a key forum for discussing the role of ICTs as a means of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and targets.
WVRF has partnered with the World Summit on Information Society to introduce WSIS stakeholders to virtual reality. Salar Shahna, artistic director of the WVRF, has intervened as a speaker to present VR and our organization at the WSIS on May 2. From 3 to 4 May, participants discovered an exhibition area displaying virtual reality works and an interactive workshop dedicated to education and services in VR on the 5th.
