CHINA – COUNTRY OF HONOUR 2017

At the World VR Forum’s second Annual Summit, we were delighted to welcome Chinese guests from academia and VR/AR industry experts, to official alliance of VR industries in China, at Le Regent Congress Center, in Cras-Montana, from 11 to 14 May.

A few highlights of the speakers at the Conference included Professor Gene Wen from Tsinghua University who, as an opening keynote speaker presented current VR developments in China.

Jaunt VR China’s CEO James Fong opened Day 2 on the ecosystems of VR in the Middle Kingdom. Mr. Chen Quqing from the China Culture Industrial Investment Fund (a state-owned PE) was among the investors and VCs to talk about VR investment in China. Dr. Andy Niu, Chairman of Z-Park Creative Culture & Game Industry Development Alliance opened Day 3 by introducing the China VR gaming market. The Conference was very well wrapped up by Founder and CEO of VIVEDU, Dr. Sun Wei’s presentation on education and VR. Ms. Momo Hao of YoukuAlibaba was also there to join a talk together with Salar Shahna, WVRF’s CEO and Creative Director on VR distribution in China.

WVRF was also very delighted to have the presence of Ms. Liu Jin of IVRA (Industry of Virtual Reality Alliance-虚拟现实产业联盟). Prof. Erica Han of South China Agricultural University was among the Chinese delegation plus Ms. Du Juan and Mr. Zhu Rui of Beijing Heiyou Digital Display came all the way from Beijing to see the latest development of VR/AR outside of China.

WVRF welcomes the Chinese delegation and Virtual Switzerland to Crans-Montana.

China was honoured this year as a special guest for its growing role in the global VR/AR industry. The evening before the opening of the Annual Summit was exclusively reserved for Chinese delegates as well as members and partners of Virtual Switzerland, the new national thematic network dedicated to new immersive technologies and simulation of virtual environments supported by the CTI (Commission for Technology and Innovation).

Thanks to Business Valais, a Sino-Swiss VIP Dinner was organized on the eve of the WVRF’s Annual Summit, bringing together all the partners of the economic development of Valais at the Restaurant Casino of Crans-Montana. Eric Bianco, Director and Head of the Economic Development office of Business Valais gave a talk on the opening of the dinner.

The idea of this event was also to express our gratitude to our main Chinese and Swiss partners in the Virtual and Enhanced Realities sector while strengthening Sino-Swiss cooperation. It was a unique opportunity for interaction and international interaction over immersive technologies
